Nigerian striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has signed a one-year contract extension with English Premier League side, Stoke City. He's original contract expired at the end of June. The 33-year-old was, however, given a new one-year deal on Thursday by Stoke city, who promised another 12-month extension if the striker impresses.
Odemwingie now has another window to exhibit his skills as he is guaranteed to remain at the Britannia Stadium at least until the end of the 2015/16 season after suffering an injury plagued season last.
The club's chief executive, Tony Scholes, expressed delight at keeping the Nigerian striker for another season. “We’re delighted that Peter has extended his stay with us at the club until the summer of 2016,” Mr. Scholes told Stoke City’s official website.
“He suffered an unfortunate injury last season after making a big impression immediately after joining the club. Peter has worked incredibly hard to battle back from this to regain full fitness.
He’s a popular figure not just in the dressing room but with Club staff and supporters so we are thrilled to keep him on board this season.”
Odemwingie joined the Potters in January 2014, and had a big impact in the Stoke City side that recorded its first ever top ten finish at the end of the 2013/14 calendar. He has scored five goals in his appearances for Stoke City.
