Gas explosion kills 7 people, injures 2 in Jigawa

Seven people lost their lives, while two others sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of gas explosion at Ruba village market in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The gas was being used by a welder, when the explosion occurred.
Commandant of the corps, Jigawa State, Dr. Muhd Fari, who also confirmed the incident, said seven persons were killed by the explosion, while two others were injured.
He said in Dutse, yesterday, that while the injured were taken to hospitals, the remains of the dead were taken to their respective homes for burial.
According to him, the two legs of the operator of the welding machine were seriously damaged.
Dr. Gidado said the cause of the incident was yet to be known, adding that investigation was on to ascertain its cause to avert a recurrence.
He also advised the public to be cautious in using inflammable materials.
